Course Summary:
The goal of this course is to provide a review of dental therapy for dentists that are starting implant placement and restoration. It reviews key anatomic structures in the maxilla and mandible that impact dental implant success with the goal of providing an understanding of surgical protocols for dental implant placement and indications for their use. The course also reviews types of radiographs that are needed for dental implant treatment planning, during implant placement procedure, as well as for follow up care and indications for their use. It also aims to provide an understanding of the ridge dimensions and impact on implant size selection and implant placement. It also aims to provide an understanding of dental implant placement starting from incision, flap design, and placement as well as review post op care and follow up so that dentists are provided with information on how to place single dental implants. It reviews techniques for implant second stage uncovering and rationale for uncovering procedures and impression techniques for dental impressions and restoration. It aims to provide dentists with an understanding of concepts involved in dental implant restoration and maintenance.
