Course Summary:

Antimicrobial therapy in dentistry involves systemic and local usage. In dentistry, use of systemic antibiotics is being reassessed due to overuse of antibiotics and community impact of it. A number of changes and guidelines are being recommended to ensure effective use of systemic antibiotics and minimize over usage. The goal of this Course is to review new recommended guidelines for use of antibiotics in Dental practice, as well as the antibiotic regimens for Endodontic and Periodontal conditions. Additionally, we will review the latest guidelines for prescribing antibiotics for Penicillin allergic patients and use of local delivery anti-microbial agents in periodontics.
